My First Blog Post-
Oh my goodness! I have started a blog... and I'm very excited. I'm sort of wondering why it's taken me so long. Since moving to NYC on Sep. 6th my Aunt has been urging me to write a blog... and most things she urges- I take seriously. Last night was my first night in my new room in Brooklyn. I was sleeping on the hardwood floor, on a blanket makeshift bed- bundled up in my cozy pink rabbit poncho/robe (thank you Alexandra) and my mermaid tail blanket (thank you Keira). For those of you who know me well, you know that sleeping arrangement is about right for me, takeaway the makeshift bed. I'm not accustomed to sleeping on the floor (although it's fun) my bed frame and mattress arrives on Monday! Anyways... it was last night on my hard sleeping surface that made me think it's time for the blog. I love the idea of a blog and even a vlog but I wasn't sure if what I had to share was worth reading. At this point in my life I think it's fair to say- I have a lot to say! I have lived an interesting life so far and I love reading other people's blogs and watching youtube- so I hope people will enjoy reading (and maybe eventually watching) mine.
My blog title is agirlishdreamofmine which is part of a quote from the play, The Importance of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde. The character Cecily says, "...it had always been a girlish dream of mine to love some one whose name was Ernest. There is something in that name that seems to inspire absolute confidence. I pity any poor married woman whose husband is not called Ernest." Now it is not my dream to marry a man named Ernest... although I do seem to have a fixation with that name myself. I had a gecko with my dear friend Elexa named Ernest... but he was named after Ernest Hemingway. The quote is lovely and has stuck with me. It has always been a girlish dream of mine to live the life I am living right now. That is a BIG statement. I am a woman now but I feel very strongly that we must listen to our inner child for guidance on how to live our lives. I can write quite confidently that my girlish self would strongly approve of what I'm doing right now and how I'm living my life. I do NOT by any means have it all together- but I am living a life I am proud of. That might be the reason I am happy to start blogging finally.
I would like to eventually have a blogging post schedule (daily, every other day, every Monday etc.) but for now I will post when I feel appropriate. Thank you for taking the time to read this! I look forward to sharing more soon.
